Thick low marine layer on the coast, but it got hot inland. 99 at Ozena. A little NE wind at altitude in the forecast, but it was stiff south at launch. The early altitudes were poor, and the air was ratty, but it got better later. A little convergence set up behind Haddock with cloudbase near 14K. The flow was from the east on the glide south. Cleared Bump One on White Ledge Ridge with 7K. If the convergence had been staged more to the west, we could have made Carpinteria on the Glide.
Since the air was bumpy and ratty early, some of the crew opted to bail for Chiefs. Topa was only good for a couple hundred over launch. SD made Oak View with altitude to spare on a glide from 13,200 over the north ridge of the Chute . Dan Munger left from the lower campground with 93 and squeaked in to Ojai on his HG. Sharon reported Ten Six, but didn't try the glide. Someone else got to eleven five, but didn't go either. The day mellowed a bit later, but was still a bit bumpy at 4pm.
