The wind came up on the water Friday afternoon while I was working at Calle Ocho. Finally broke down and plugged through rush hour traffic to grab my gear and get to Bates a little late. The white caps were backing off, but the velocity still seemed pretty good so I opted for the lower launch. Couldn't get up and had to top land on the path. Walk back to the truck and drove to the upper launch.
The velocity was still ok, but it was cross and couldn't get more than about 30 feet over the point. Hung out for 15 minutes and finally landed on the lower terrace for the hike back to the truck.
Pack up in the front yard.
