Saturday, 9/4/04, Labor Day Weekend
Chiefs Peak to White Ledge
and back to NHS

A great day at Chiefs today with nice altitudes, nice air, and nice XC.

Climbed up to 7500 or so above launch with Dean and Tom P. We all headed toward Santa Barbara with a slight tailwind.

Dean and Tom squeaked into Carpenteria... bucking and fighting a building west wind. Nice flying guys! I tagged White Ledge, turned around and landed at NHS with an easy tailwind pushing me all the way back.

The air was smooth, buoyant and super fun. Low stress. Sunday is shaping up to be better than today.

Vario readings: 1368 fpm up
-1008 fpm down
2 1/2 hour flight.

This was Dean's and my first time going backwards from Ojai toward Santa Barbara. It was a blast!
