Chiefs Peak (Ojai) to the Santa Barbara Training Hill

You Missed It!!

As we were driving back in the retrieve vehicle today I was talking to John K. and we were tossing around possible headlines for tonight's flight post.  I think john said it best with "You missed it".  Today was one of the best days at Chiefs in a long time.  I will not make this a long post because there are so many great individual stories to tell about today's flight from Chiefs to Santa Barbara.  I hope most or all the pilots that flew today would take the time and toss in a few words regarding the flight today.

11 pilots launched Chief today: Tom T., Tom P., John K., Brendan, Ron M., Sharon, Randall, Bob P., Rob M., Casey, and I.  8 of us made it through the pass landing in various areas of SB.  It wasn't just the fact that 8 pilots made it through the pass that made the day so memorable, it was the fact that making it through the pass was so stress free for the most part.  Usually the pass is such a white knuckler, but today gave us such great altitude with a good tailwind that it was a breeze crossing from the dreaded White ledge to Noon Peak.

This morning Ron M. and I set a goal to make the training hill in SB at which point we would crack open the Red Bulls that we had packed with us and toast. I'm happy to say we made that toast...what a day...

I had a great time flying with everyone today. The stories being told in the retrieve vehicle on the way back is a big part of what this sport is all about...too much fun!

Okay, who's next? Lets here your story.
