Sunday, 9/5/04, Labor Day Weekend A good crew turned out on a good day which resulted in big altitude and long flights. I have not flown in several weeks and my launch technique has suffered, but managed to finally get airborne from Chief's and head West in search of Tom T. who was well on course to SB and points beyond. Easy run to the Divides but then had to work on wing management through Carp and Montecito. Had plenty of company ahead and behind with eight pilots making it through the pass. Found myself getting queasy from the turb after a couple of hours so I threw in the towel at Skyport and landed at Parma. Special congrats to Dean and Ron who pulled the glide to the training hill (which is still on my list of things to do) and to Casey on his first run through the pass. Vario log: 1000 up, 800 dn, max alt 9076 ft, 2 hrs 26min. |
