On Monday we got to launch when the moisture/cloud line (around 20k ft asl) had already shaded out almost the whole area.  Out first mistake was getting there too late.  We arrived at 11:45ish.  I took off around noon.

My 2nd climb putt me above 11k and the only Sun within glide was on the way to Mt Pinos.  My only decisions were based on where the sun was shinning, which left very few decisions.  There is a chance I could have pushed to Frazer through a lot of shade after Pinos, but it didn't look great.  For the whole flight amazing conditions were just 10-15 miles in front of me.  The wind was SW at about 10-15 km at altitude and valley flows lower down.  Seemed like a huge day if we had gotten to takeoff earlier...

That Frazer line seems logical with the terrain and convergence.  I hope I get another shot at it.
