Lucas and I are thinking about launching from the Nuthouse tomorrow at 11.  For anyone who's familiar and wants to join, you are welcome.  For anyone who isn't familiar or hasn't flown there, it's a steep and arduous hike and a VERY committing launch with no real bail-out LZ to speak of. So you'd want to be a solid P3 with excellent ground handling and launch techniques to fly.

Having said that, there certainly have been plenty of P2's that have chucked it off of there with instructor supervision.

Lucas and I will be taking a leisurely 60-75 minutes to hike up but some (Mitch Riley, Logan) have done it in about 30 min or less in the past.

Lucas and I had a leisurely hike up to Nuthouse launch.  Prepped gear and waited 15 min for wind to clock a bit more South.  Crows climbing out front was a good indicator and we launched at 11:30 into nice lift but slightly blustery conditions.  With an Easterly component, that little canyon can be active.  We pushed back up to the ridge

...finding good climbs (400 fpm or more) but struggled to get over 4500.  I finally got a good one that took me to 5400 and that was our agreed upon trigger to head West.  Wind was blowing 8 mph East at 4k but as we got lower it started going West along the front of the bumps.  We worked the ridges back there for a while but 10 mph West with gusts was requiring some very active piloting.  Lucas turned back and landed at his car.  I pushed out over Ojai, landing at the La Luna/El Roblar field after 2 hours.

Was a great flying day and I'm sure others probably could have made more of it but we were stoked to survive the hike, fly together and land safe.
A very good day.
