For those of us who couldn't make it to Grande Sur we had a grand time anyway!  Roland, JR, Hammer, Harrington, and I, could smell a lapse rate brewing despite the high pressure prediction.  Hammer, as usual strode around the sky at will, picking and choosing wherever the hell he wanted to go... JR went down as low as you can go without getting poison oak, then proceeded to climb out into the land of 5 grand.  Roland got a little jiggy, and went East, then West, then East again for a couple of hours, then went out to the beach.  Mike Harrington, returning from a 20 year hiatus from flying, decided that he would just pick up where he left off... went to Romero, back to the VOR, then played around RR and the Factory until his just got tuckered out, flew out to the beach and called it a day.  All this without any instruments!!

I decided to try and follow Hammer to Carp, but when I got there, the glider I thought I was following turned out to be a helicopter down by the Wires!  Hammer had already gotten bored down there and had turned around.  Just a bit further, the stink alarm went off and I was down to 2,400ft. just before the ridge behind Cate School.  Followed 4 fledge Red Tails back to 4 grand and turned tail back to SB.  Flew on straight glide from 3300 at Romero to East Beach arriving at 1,500 over the water.

Not a bad day for all.  Thanks Hammer for throwing down the Sat night challenge!
