Fathers Day flight at Bates / Tom & Tess with Pam and Sam for crew / 6/16/2013

Did Breakfast in the morning followed  by an art context (organized by Tess).  Wasn't expecting much wind, but the sun came out and the breeze picked up.  A bit marginal on the velocity, but a good direction.

John Kloer and another pilot were flying when we arrived.  The direction was good enough that it was almost soarable in front of the upper launch.  Suited up and got off with horsepower help from Sam with Pam on the camera trigger.  I bit crowded with 3 gliders only getting even to 50 over the main ridge.  It seemed to be getting weaker.  John and the other pilot landed on the terrace and hiked back up to launch.  We weren't going to reach it, so we opted for the grass.  There was a large group having a barbeque and a number of them asked if I could give them a ride, but I didn't have any business cards for the flight schools.

Flight time was about 20 to 30 minutes.  Launch some time around 2:30ish.
